Kevin not only designs prototypes and tames complex user interfaces, he seeks to understand how people work so that those interfaces help people do a better job.
The artifacts around his desk might give the impression that he spends most of his time writing software that controls or monitors electronic devices. He believes strongly in the value of building a prototype and testing it with users.
As a project manager, Kevin helps clients and MAYA’s interdisciplinary teams work well together, ensuring that our clients receive what they need on time and within budget.
He enjoys working with our clients and translating their needs into good design work for MAYA.
Kevin is a 10-year veteran of MAYA and has also been one of the key designers for several of MAYA’s research projects, including Visage (a data visualization-and-manipulation environment, and a precursor to CoMotion from MAYA Viz); Expeditions (a project to redesign the personal computer for the 21st Century); and Renex (a visual programming environment).
Kevin has a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, where developed a deep understanding of industrial working environments, ergonomics, and project management. He also holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
