Samvith specializes in understanding human cognition in order to design more usable information systems.

To tame the complexity of information systems, Samvith uses the techniques and principles of human-centered design.

Before joining MAYA’s interdisciplinary team, Samvith collaborated with a wide range of researchers and designers, including a team at The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and researchers in the spatial cognition community. Through these collaborations, he co-authored several articles for scientific publications in the fields of Cognitive Science and Human Computer Interaction.

Samvith taught the Human Factors in System Design course at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Information Sciences, where he showed students how to apply user-centered design techniques to team projects. He also served as a technical editor of Spatial Cognition and Computation-an Interdisciplinary Journal, and has reviewed scientific publications.

Samvith holds both a Ph.D. and an M.S. in information science from the University of Pittsburgh.
