I just finished reading Drood by Dan Simmons. Worth the read if you like historic fiction with a macabre twist (though a bit long at times). It explains why Dickens never finished his last novel and weaves a tale of Egyptian mesmerists, laudanum swilling playwrights, and adventures on the darker side of London. Of course if you’d like something a bit more fantastical (but still about the darker side of London but maybe with a mad Queen who has sold the city to alien overlords), then you’d probably rather read The Domino Men.
