———-Top Five————-
1. The Men Who Stare at Goats is coming. The book was fun (and all true) though for a real treat go buy Jon Ronson’s other book, Them. Adventures in Extremists.

2. Take 20 minutes and watch this. Hans Rosling spoke at the State Department a month or two ago and it has just been posted online. New stuff, wonderful passion, great example of how a diagram is worth 10,000 words and the power of visualization as a medium.

3. The Design of Everyday Things, Star Wars edition.

4. Finally Emigre has a new issue out (sorta).

5. Our own Rick McMullen weighs in on the design of Electronic Medical Records with help from our friends at the Veterans Administration.

—————————The Rest————————
Pretty lucid explanation of healthcare debate (or lack thereof thanks to all the entertainers, err, news channels, out there).

More lucid reasoning about our decision-making ability regarding health insurance.

Debunking the myths…

I love this idea, seems like it’d be fun to do to the whole house, car, office.

Wonderful online art, play around a little. Wait for it to load, then wait a bit longer, trust me it gets really beautiful.

Human Interface. I love the way they just kept going on this one.

Tasting light. Not too surprisingly a digital lollipop can now allow blind people to see with their tongue, sorta.

Not sure why but I stumbled on some curious iPhone apps this week…
Sonar Ruler iPhone app. Now if only the iPhone could measure weight via some sort of sonar pulse, this app would take off!

Or just grill a bratwurst and forget your troubles…

Though maybe just fixing things so you’ll look better in webcams would be enough…

Beck is doing some fun experiments (sorta girltalk-ish remixes)…

What makes us happy when we spend money…

Luckily privacy is dead or I’d be worried about this.

I just love the first wrapped shot… I’d like to do that in a room somewhere…

This just hurts to watch (though the Starf Leet one is pretty well done)..

Sustainable city, nice umbrellas…

Build your own organic farm with the click of a mouse! Makes me want to do the thought experiment of “insert random word into this statement”… Hmm, Build your own child, tvshow, business, halloween costume, big chill style funeral/wake/bash/movie, with the click of a mouse! Oh well, didn’t work out as well as I thought.

I don’t think this will go well. But it does highlight the fact that every darn thing will have a video surface at some point and we’ll pray for contact lenses that can actively block ads in our field of view.

And of course, this will happen if you haven’t kept your contact lens drivers up to date…=

At some point this sorta thing is going to completely change things (well especially halloween and outdoor dinner parties, and torturing cats, and laser pointers might as well just give up when projector pointers hit the streets)…

I haven’t linked to cool bikes lately, so here are a few.

Not sure if this really does anything, but its blinky!

Um, yes this is a link to a kitten youtube film. Kanye eat your heart out

Who doesn’t like dressing up their furniture once in a while?

Defragging the stimulus is a great article by our own Josh Knauer about the need for a comprehensive view of the stimulus funding. Worth a read.

We had a visit from young Slim last week, this one’s for you.
