John heads MAYA’s Engineering group and works on some of MAYA’s most significant projects. He has provided human-centered design expertise for such clients as Bayer Healthcare, Eaton Corporation, Panasonic Automotive, General Dynamics, CIBA Vision, and others.
John strongly believes that innovation is an interdisciplinary, discovery-driven process.
Before coming to MAYA, John worked in several new product-development groups, both in the corporate setting and at other consultancies. He has worked on the design of a wide range of new products, including numerous industrial tools, consumer products, and regulated medical devices, such as home dialysis machines and radiation therapy devices. This experience with diverse groups has allowed him to see many different approaches to new product development. He firmly believes that MAYA’s human-centered approach to repeatable innovation is the best way to tackle the challenge of getting useful, usable, and desirable experiences into the world.
John earned his mechanical engineering degree at Carnegie Mellon University. He’s a member of both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Design Management Institute, and he’s a past board member of the Western Pennsylvania chapter of the IDSA.
